As per the state government, Vedic mathematics, which claims to be an easier and faster way to solve math problems, will be introduced into the Gujarat school curriculum next year.
Minister of Education Jitu Vaghani announced on Wednesday the anniversary of the birth of the famous Indian mathematician Srinivasa Ramanujan.
Ramanujan was born on December 22, 1887.
“In India, the birthday of the great Indian mathematician Ramanujan is recognised as National Mathematics Day.” The state government decided on this occasion to gradually introduce Veda’s mathematics into the school.” Vaghani tweeted.
The minister stated that the subject would be introduced to the standard 6-10 days beginning in the 2022-23 academic year, “spreading India’s knowledge system envisioned in national education policy.”
“Vedic math improves students’ command of the subject and makes it easier to understand.” “Vedic math will help stimulate students’ interest in mathematics,” he added.
Vedic mathematics is a centuries-old Indian method of simplifying mathematics by combining arithmetic operations into 16 “traffic” or mathematical formulas.
Proponents argue that Vedic mathematics reduces the number of steps involved and offers multiple approaches to obtaining solutions by shortening the time required to solve complex problems.
