Kiremko, a Netherlands manufacturer of food processing equipment, is to invest 25 million euros (approximately Rs 213.7 crore) in Gujarat. Currently, the firm provides food processing equipment to Gujarat-based makers of frozen potato-based products.
Kiremko was part of a 14-firm team led by Marten van den Berg, the Dutch ambassador to India, Nepal, and Bhutan, during Agri Asia 2021 in Gandhinagar. They intend to establish an equipment manufacturing plant in India.
Gujarat is a great pick, according to Bhavana Vishawanath, the firm’s country director, because it can easily be used as a production base and supplier for processed potato products. Kiremko also provides equipment to McCain and Hyfun Foods, both of which sell frozen potatoes.
Gujarat is presently the leading producer and exporter of frozen potato-based goods in India. The Dutch envoy stated a desire to invest in four areas in India: healthcare, agriculture, water, and energy.
