Given the number of ceremonies involved, weddings in India can be exhausting. However, the bride, who must carry out the customs and traditions by wearing heavy clothes and accessories, makes it even more exhausting and difficult for her. It’s only natural that brides would prefer to wear something more comfortable than a heavy lehenga.
On social media, a video of a desi bride saying she wants to wear casual jeans to her wedding’s phera ceremony instead of her heavy bridal lehenga has gone viral. The footage was shared on Instagram by the Witty Wedding page.
The bride is seen in the short footage sporting a red blouse with her bridal dupatta. She is wearing ripped jeans instead of a lehenga.
“Mereko lehenga nahi pehnna. Mujhe aise hi jana hai (I don’t want to wear a lehenga, I want to go like this only),” the bride tells her family and friends.
Everyone laughs at the bride’s statement, and someone even offers to accompany her to the mandap downstairs in the same manner.
“When the bride doesn’t want to wear her Lehnga but wants to go to her Pheras in her Denims,” the video caption says.
Mudra Bhagat is the bride in the video.
The video has gone viral on Instagram, with over 9 lakh views. It has received over 61,000 likes.
According to one commenter, “Then tell me why she designed the lehenga. These bridal gowns are exorbitantly priced.” “It’s your wedding….do it your way,” wrote another.
Another user said, “Why the dupatta, heavy jewellery, and blouse? Shaadi toh jeans top bhi ho jati hai…itna bhi kasht kyu karna.”
