A 3.4 magnitude earthquake was reported in Rajkot’s Gondal town at 6.53 a.m. this morning. The epicentre of the earthquake was discovered 22 kilometres from Gondal. It sent shock-waves all over the place. People were frightened awake and ran from their homes. The incident, however, did not result in any injuries.
It is worth noting that several parts of India are earthquake-prone. Seismic Zone 5 is the most dangerous of these. Where an earthquake with a magnitude greater than 8 is likely to occur. Gujarat is located in Seismic Zone 3, which is considered fairly risky. The earthquake had a magnitude of 7 or less.
Apart from Gujarat, Kerala, Goa, Lakshadweep Island, Uttar Pradesh, and parts of West Bengal fall within this category. This category includes Punjab, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, Orissa, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, and Karnataka.
