The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has decided to cancel the annual week-long Kankaria Carvial this year due to the widespread fear of the Omicron coronavirus variant.
The flower show at the Sabarmati Riverfront Flower Park, on the other hand, will take place as planned in the first fortnight of January 2022.
The carnival is usually held in the last week of December, according to a report published in The Times of India (TOI). In 2008, it was the first time it was held.
On Wednesday, the decision was made at a meeting.
“As a precautionary measure, the carnival will not be held this year due to the pandemic.” According to TOI, Rajesh Dave, chairman of the AMC’s recreational, cultural, and heritage committee, “a large number of people gather in one place for this event, which is not desirable given the current situation.”
