The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation’s (AMC) health department is being flooded with requests for mosquito fogging from residents all over the city.
A senior AMC health official explained that in November alone, 940 complaints were received from across the city, with the maximum 320 coming from the western areas of Chandkheda-Motera, Navragpura, Paldi, Vadaj, Stadium, and Vasna.
“These areas are somewhat congested, have old construction and leaking pipelines, and a high density of vegetation, all of which contribute to mosquito breeding,” the official explained.
The municipal south zone is the next troubled area, with 162 requests for fogging and anti-vector activities.
According to the official, the AMC’s health department has received approximately 12,000 requests from the west zone alone this year, followed by 5,100 requests from the south zone, which primarily covers areas such as Beharampura, Maninagar, Danilimda, Lambha, Isanpur, Indrapuri, and Vatva.
“During our routine visits to such homes, we have begun advising residents on potential mosquito breeding areas in their homes. At that point, we don’t levy any fines “stated the official According to him, the most violations and breeding were discovered in commercial complexes in western Ahmedabad, as well as institutions such as schools and colleges.
