‘Verbal Verification Of Vaccination’ Enough For Alcohol Sale: Khandwa Officer

Liquor will now only be sold to persons who are completely vaccinated in Khandwa. Customers will be asked to verbally self-declare’ that they are completely vaccinated as part of the verification process, which will rely on their ‘honesty.’ Officials believe that “most alcohol consumers in India do not lie.”

Business News

RP Kirar, the Khandwa district excise officer, issued an order on Thursday instructing all 74 outlets, including 55 shops selling domestic liquor and 19 selling Indian-made Foreign Liquor, to sell liquor only to fully vaccinated consumers. He told reporters that the order was made in accordance with instructions from the local administration.

“Customers will be asked if they have received both of the needed jabs before being sold liquor. The guidelines have also been posted on banners at all liquor stores “Kirar remarked. “It’s his honesty…… as it’s my own experience that in Hindustan, mainly alcohol users talk truth, they don’t lie,” he added when asked how a salesman would check if a buyer had received both dosages.

Based on his ‘observations’ of alcohol consumers, the senior excise officer stated that customers will not be required to present their immunisation certificate in order to purchase liquor.

A video of Kirar explaining the sale of liquor following a ‘honest…verbal self-declaration’ by a customer quickly went viral on social media sites and drew numerous comments, the most of which were humorous.
