COVID vaccine hesitancy smashed in Gujarat; unvaccinated won’t be allowed in AMTS and BRTS – details

For those who have not received the COVID-19 vaccine, the Gujarat government announced strict rules.
The Gujarat government announced that the people who are eligible to take the COVID-19 vaccine but are yet to get vaccinated will not be allowed to board the buses of Ahmedabad Municipal Transport Service (AMTS), Ahmedabad Bus Rapid Transit System (BRTS) from November 12.
Besides this, the unvaccinated people will also be barred from entering Kankaria Lakefront, Kankaria Zoo and Sabarmati Riverfront.
COVID vaccine certificates will be checked before their entry into the library, gymkhana, swimming pool, AMC Sports Complex, City Civic Center and all the buildings of the corporation, the government of Gujarat declared.
The order comes after Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya held a meeting with the state health ministers and discussed the strengthening of the Prime Minister’s ‘Har Ghar Dastak’ campaign with his state counterparts. He also urged them for collective efforts to ensure that no citizen is left without the protection of COVID-19 vaccines.
“Lets us ensure collectively through collaborative and multi-stakeholder efforts that no eligible citizen is left without the ‘Suraksha Kawachh’ of COVID 19 vaccine in the country. Let us reach each corner and household across the country and motivate people to take both the doses under Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji’s Har Ghar Dastak campaign,” the Union health minister said during the meeting.
Mandaviya stated that at present 79 per cent of the adult population has got the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine and 38 per cent of the eligible population has received the second dose.
Gujarat’s daily count of COVID-19 cases crosses 40-mark after nearly four months on November 10, 2021. The coronavirus fatality count remained unchanged at 10,090 as the state had last reported a death due to the deadly contagious virus on July 1.
