The newly inducted Ahmedabad franchise of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is expected to recruit outgoing Indian team coaches Ravi Shastri, Bharat Arun, and R Sridhar for coaching responsibilities in the lucrative tournament’s 2022 season.
Shastri, Arun, and Sridhar will all leave their positions as coaches of the Indian cricket team after the completion of the present T20 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates. And the BCCI has already named Rahul Dravid as Shastri’s successor.
According to Cricbuzz, Shastri has been offered the position of the head coach by the Ahmedabad franchise, and he is also interested in coaching with an IPL team.
The Indian coach, on the other hand, will make his decision towards the end of the T20 World Cup since he does not want any distractions during the event. Bharat Arun and R Sridhar will join the former Indian cricketer’s team if they accept the offers.
According to the report, CVC Capital, the promoters of the Ahmedabad-based franchise, are eager to close the deal as soon as possible because they want to establish a team culture from the start.
With the addition of two additional franchises — Ahmedabad and Lucknow — the IPL will expand to ten teams beginning with the 2022 season. The RPSG group, led by Sanjiv Goenka, paid Rs 7,090 crore for the Lucknow franchise, while CVC Capitals paid Rs 5,625 crore for the Ahmedabad squad.
A mega-auction will be held ahead of the new season in the cash-rich league. Existing franchisees will be able to keep a maximum of four players, while new teams will be able to choose three players from outside the auction pool.
