Another big take-off is being prepared over a year after India’s first seaplane service from the Sabarmati Riverfront to the Statue of Unity in Kevadia was stopped. It’s a helicopter service this time. A helipad has been built near Paldi, directly across from the seaplane jetty on the riverbank, where a helicopter trial run took place a few days ago.
Gujarat State Aviation Infrastructure Company Ltd was allotted 4,074 square metres by AMC for the helipad. However, it is unclear whether the services will be limited to VVIPs or whether commoners will be able to use them as well, albeit at a cost.
