Ahmedabad: In another important milestone in Covid-19 vaccination, Gujarat crossed the 7 crore vaccination mark on Friday, becoming the fourth state to achieve the landmark.
After rolling out the vaccination drive on January 16, the state took 86 days to reach the 1 crore vaccine mark on April 12. As per health department data, the 2-crore mark was achieved 60 days later on June 12, and the 3-crore mark after 38 days on July 21.
The state took 25 days to reach the 4 crore vaccination landmark on August 15, 23 days to reach 5 crore on September 7, and 20 days to touch the 6-crore mark on September 27. It has taken 32 days to move from 6 crore to 7 crore.
Gujarat is only the fourth state in the country that has administered 7 crore or more doses. Uttar Pradesh has administered 12.96 crore doses, the highest in the country, followed by Maharashtra with 9.74 crore, and West Bengal with 7.55 crore. Madhya Pradesh has administered 6.98 crore doses.
In Gujarat, out of the eligible population of 4.93 crore, 4.46 crore, or just over 90% of people have received at least one dose of the vaccine, while more than 2.54 crore or more than 51% people are fully vaccinated.
In Ahmedabad city, 25.81 lakh people have received both doses, and 46.67 lakh at least one dose.
Nationally, more than 105.20 crore vaccines have been administered as of Friday, as per Co-WIN data. More than 32.25 crore people have received both doses, while 72.92 crore have received at least one.
