According to police, four people were killed and two others were seriously injured when their van overturned in Gujarat’s Kheda district on Wednesday.
An official from the Mahudha police station said the accident happened around midnight in Mahudha town near Nadiad city while the six people were on their way to offer prayers at a temple in Malataj village of neighbouring Anand district.
The van overturned on its way from Santrampur in Mahisagar district after the driver lost control over the wheels while trying to avoid collision with a truck approaching from the opposite direction, he said.
According to the official, one van occupant died on the spot, two others died during the treatment at a civil hospital in Nadiad, and a third died at the Ahmedabad civil hospital to which he was referred for treatment.
He added that two other people were seriously injured in the accident and were being treated at a Nadiad hospital.
