Ahmedabad: Three suspects, including a woman, were arrested in yet another case of fake currency notes. According to the report, they possessed counterfeit currency notes worth Rs 3.21 lakh.
The three accused have been identified as Vikesh Vaniyar from the Khokra region, Mitesh Vaghela from Surendar Nagar, and Alka Joshi from Ahmedabad.
As a result of the bust, the cops’ team recovered 242 notes of Rs 500 and 100 notes of Rs 2,000 from their possession. The police also recovered Rs 1,700 in the form of genuine currency notes from the suspects.
While commenting on the raid, a DCP Achal Tyagi said that these suspects brought the counterfeit notes from Tamil Nadu’s Salem. The police officer further noted that a team will be sent to Tamil Nadu for a probe as they have not got evidence that the notes were printed in Gujarat.
DCP Tyagi also added that in the month of August, currency notes worth face value Rs 15 lakh were seized in Odisha which were found to be printed there. He added “We are matching the quality of notes with those seized in Odisha,” as quoted by the Times of India.
