Ahmedabad: To support vaccination in ghetto regions, Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation will before long dispatch a one-of-a-kind plan: “Take antibodies, get one liter of cooking without oil.” The plan will be dispatched with the assistance of a couple of NGOs after it was tracked down that specific gatherings are hesitant to require the second shot notwithstanding fitting the bill for it.
The number of people taking the first dose has reached 97 per cent, but there’s still apathy among people living in slum areas and labour colonies to get fully vaccinated. AMC has been conducting a drive to promote vaccination but it has not yielded desired results and hence the free-oil scheme
A senior AMC official said, “Meetings are in progress with NGOs for implementing the scheme. It will be launched phase-wise in each zone of the city. This will encourage people to take jabs.”
As per AMC data as on October 5, 44,79,779 (97 percent) people above 18 years have taken their first dose in Ahmedabad. While 22,04,736 (49 percent) have taken their second dose.
To reach the 100 percent vaccination target, AMC is launching new schemes. On Tuesday it announced a doorstep vaccination facility for those above 50 years of age and all physically-challenged above 18.
AMC has administered 66,38,948 doses till now. These include 2,02,039 doses to health workers and 3,42,564 to frontline workers.
