The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) fixed 16 premises including nine schools and seven theaters/multiplexes which either didn’t have or didn’t reestablish their Fire Safety declarations notwithstanding being approached to do as such by Ahmedabad Fire and Emergency Services (AFES).

A statement from the civic body said these premises were in violation of the Gujarat Fire Prevention and Life Safety Measures Act. Schools sealed on October 5 include four institutions from the Central Zone, two from North Zone and three from West Zone.
Among those sealed were Shree NK Primary School in Saraspur, Nutan Prakash Vidhyalay on Relief Road, Gitanjali Vidyamandir in Shahibaug, Preyas English Medium School in Shahpur, Vikas Primary School in Mahavirnagar.

Also sealed were Shree CP Patel Fellowship High School in Thakkarbapanagar, Pulkit Madhyamik Shala and Pulkit Primary School in Paldi, and Jagruti English Medium School in Chandkheda.
Of the seven theatres sealed on Tuesday, two are multiplexes while five are single-screen facilities.
All of these theatres were issued intimation notices on either June 30 or July 1 this year.
These include K Sera Sera Miniplex on SG Highway, Shital Cinema in Gomtipur, Amber Cinema in Bapunagar, Mira Cinema in Maninagar, Hanjar Cinema in Saraspur, City Pulse-Mega City Cinema in Makarba, and five screens of Carnival Cinema in Himalaya Mall.
