Ahmedabad: The state government will make recruitments to close to 28,000 posts in the police establishment in the coming months, newly appointed minister of state for home, Harsh Sanghavi said on Monday.
Sanghavi said the decision for the large-scale recruitment of police personnel across different ranks has been taken by Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, who was appointed in place of Vijay Rupani last month. Patel also handles the home ministry portfolio.
“The recruitments in the police department are aimed at further improving the state’s law & order situation. The recruitments were pending due to the Covid-19 pandemic, but the state government has decided to speed up the process and issued necessary directions to different recruitment boards. The planning for recruitment for 27,847 posts will be completed in the next 100 days,” Sanghavi said.
The planned recruitments include those for the posts of unarmed police sub inspector, armed police sub inspector (platoon commander), intelligence officer, unarmed assistant sub inspector, Lok Rakshak, and technical cadres such as motor transport, wireless, police sub inspector, technical operator, home guards, and Gram Rakshak Dal (honorary).
The state government said the recruitment will also help many youngsters who aspire to join the police force realise their dream. It will also lead to better policing services for the citizens.
