Business News

Gujarat has received an average of 24.5 inch rainfall as of September 26, compared with the normal rainfall of 27.4 inch, amounting to a deficit of 11%, IMD data shows.

The state had recorded around 13 inch rainfall on an average from June 1 to August 31 and has received more than 11 inch rainfall this month which has contributed to significantly easing the deficit.

Ahmedabad has received 17.6 inch rainfall this season compared with an average of 27.5 inch, a deficit of 36%.

Tapi with 39% deficit, Dahod with 38%, Aravalli (37%), Vadodara (35%), Dangs (34%), Mahisagar (33%), Surendranagar (33%), and Mehsana (30%) are the districts with the highest rain deficit so far.

Kutch (-1%), Surat (-3%), and Chhota Udepur (-6%) are the districts with the lowest rain deficit, according to the data.

Districts that have received more than normal rainfall include Devbhoomi Dwarka (57%), Jamnagar (35%), Porbandar (29%), Rajkot (29%), Junagadh (19%), Panchmahal (18%), Amreli (4%), and Valsad (2%).

The state’s rain deficit could ease further over the coming days as the IMD has forecast light to moderate rain and thundershowers at many places in the state over the next four days. However, heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely at isolated places in Saurashtra, South Gujarat, and elsewhere over the next four days, IMD warned.
