Ahmedabad: Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel kicked off the plantation of 71,000 saplings at the Narendra Modi Van in Lal Bahadur Shastri Lake in East Ahmedabad on Friday to mark Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 71st birthday.
The Chief Minister, who succeeded Vijay Rupani just earlier this week, said the tree plantation drive would help in increasing the green cover in Ahmedabad city. He also expressed a firm resolve to enhance green cover in Ahmedabad and other cities of the state by promoting afforestation initiatives to ensure environmental preservation.
The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has embarked on an ambitious “Mission Million Trees” to boost the city’s green cover. According to a statement by the Gujarat government, the tree plantation was undertaken as a part of this initiative.
The Gujarat government has organised events at more than 400 places across the state on Friday to mark Modi’s birthday. Fifteen thousand beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana 2.0 will be provided gas connections today. Deendayal Aushadhayalas are being commenced in slum pockets to ensure easy access to people. The state government is also targeting administering a record 35 lakh Covid-19 vaccines today.
The BJP has also organised multiple events throughout the state to commemorate PM’s birthday.
