The Gujarat board examinations for standards 10 and 12 will be held between March 14 and 30 next year, the state education department announced on Wednesday.
The annual exams for classes 9 and 11 will be held between April 11 and 21, as per the academic calendar for the year 2021-22 released by the education department.
The first term exams for the secondary and higher secondary classes will take place between October 18 and 27, and the second term exams from January 27 to February 2. As per the academic calendar, the unit tests for classes 10 and 12 will be held from February 9 to 11.
The first term will last for 118 days, and the second term slightly longer at 130 days.
“Students will have a Diwali vacation of 21 days this year, while the summer vacation will be for 35 days,” as per an official.
The academic calendar has been released just weeks after offline classes resumed in the state for secondary and higher secondary students after a gap of nearly 18 months because of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Offline teaching resumed for classes 9 to 12 from July 12 and for classes 6 to 8 from September 2. The state government is also considering the resumption of offline teaching for classes 1-5, and a decision is expected soon.
The state government had cancelled the board exams in the last academic year in view of the Covid-19 pandemic.
