Changa: US-based Motorola Solutions will set up the first research and innovation center in Gujarat at Charotar University of Science and Technology (CHARUSAT) at Changa, Gujarat. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between CHARUSAT and Motorola on Tuesday, September 7 to set up CHARUSAT-Motorola Solutions Research and Innovation Center at CHARUSAT campus. A high-level delegation of Gora Kundu – Senior Director, Hardik Kothari – Senior Manager, Handset, R & D, Vasanth Rao – Senior Manager Finance, Pavan Malladi- Manager – Business Analytics & Reporting led by Mr. Kris (Kishan) Patel, Corporate Vice President, Unified Communications, Motorola Solutions, Texas USA, visited CHARUSAT. Kris Patel was the director of KODIAK (Motorola Solutions Company) which is now part of Motorola. It is worth noting here that NRG Mr. Kris Patel is a native of Charotar and for the purpose of giving back to the society, he envisioned the center at CHARUSAT -a university with focus on socially relevant research and innovation. The center has been modeled on a center of University of Illinois, USA.

Motorola has so far offered jobs and internships to 20 students of CHARUSAT.
The collaboration will be beneficial to the future generations as it aims at offering practical opportunities of learning including internships to students of the University at Motorola Solutions Innovation Centre which will be set up within the University Campus. Motorola will recruit students into its own company. Motorola will provide CHARUSAT University with its expertise, specialists, cloud data center-software and a variety of facilities while CHARUSAT will provide infrastructure, network, hardware, skilled students & teachers.
The collaboration between CHARUSAT and Motorola has been facilitated by Mr. Sanjay Patel, Senior Engineer, Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago. It led to several meetings and discussions for the purpose. Finally, today an MoU has been signed by CHARUSAT and Motorola for the purpose.
CHARUSAT-Motorola Solutions Research and Innovation Center will have a capacity of 50 to 55 persons, 3 conference rooms with state-of-the-art facilities, specialized mobile desk with research and development which will be useful to CHARUSAT, Motorola and future generations.
During the signing of the MoU, Shri Surendra Patel, President of Kelavani Mandal and CHARUSAT, Shri C.A. Patel-Shri Ashok Patel, Vice Presidents of Kelavani Mandal, Dr. M.C. Patel, Secretary of Matrusanstha-Kelavani Mandal-CHRF, Provost Dr. R. V. Upadhyay, Registrar Dr. Devang Joshi were present while a high level delegation led by Mr. Kris Patel including officials of Motorola Solutions Company were present. The MoU has been applauded by the Trustees, Advisors, Office-bearers of Matrusanstha-Kelavani Mandal-CHARUSAT-CHRF and Principals & Deans of various faculties.
The Center will be functioning under the guidance of Shri Ashok Patel and co-ordination of Dr. Ritesh Patel (Head, Computer Engineering department, Chandubhai S. Patel Institute of Technology (CSPIT), Dr. Ashwin Makwana, (Head, Career and Development Placement Cell (CDPC) and Dr. Amit Thakkar (Head, Computer Science and Engineering department, CSPIT).
While CHARUSAT University is undergoing various innovations and activities in the field of education, under this Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), various other activities will be undertaken to enhance the knowledge of the students, conduct research, achieve high quality education, and provide educational exchange.
Motorola has its center in Bangalore and now it has chosen CHARUSAT for its first center in Gujarat. Eventually, they will now expand massively in Vadodara.
