Infant girl child was kidnapped from the Post Natal Care ward of Sola Civil Hospital in Ahmedabad on 31 august. Lack of CCTV footage of the area is big problem for the police. Almost all 69 cameras in old blocks B, C, D of hospital and parking area have been out of order since last four years.
An unidentified person walked away with an infant without leaving any visual trace behind due to lack of CCTV.The little girl was the third female child of her parents, who are migrants from Amethi in UP.
Sola police inspector J J Rana said, “All 69 CCTV cameras in the old building and near the hospital gate have not been in working condition for about four years and thus there is no further footage about what happened inside the hospital that day.” Police are trying to get CCTV footage of the road in front of the hospital from other establishments in the area.
Gujarat Medical Education and Research Society (GMERS) that runs eight major hospitals, or even the state health department didn’t know that they had left the biggest public sector hospital in rural Ahmedabad without CCTV security cover.
Dr Pina Soni, in-charge Medical Superintendent of GMERS Sola MCH said, “CCTVs in our Covid building are functional. We have written to the PIU about maintenance of the cameras, and they have said they are doing it.”
