The Civil Hospital announced that it will resume evening Out Patient Departments (OPD) for patients from Monday onwards. The evening OPDs will function from 2 pm to 4 pm.
The hospital caters to over 90,000 OPD patients every month. The hospital used to have OPDs from 9 am to 1 pm and 2 pm to 4 pm during the pre-COVID days. But as COVID cases surged during the second wave the OPDs were closed so that resources could be released to cater to COVID patients. Later morning OPDs were resumed. But given the drop in COVID cases, the hospital has decided to resume evening OPDs once again.
It should be noted that Civil Hospital caters to patients from not only Gujarat but also across the country.
The Civil Hospital at present functions with an in-charge superintendent after the incumbent Dr JV Modi resigned.
Later four more doctors also opted for Voluntary Retirement Scheme. The four who resigned included head of microbiology department of BJMC Dr Pranay Shah, head of orthopaedics Dr JV Modi, associate professor of medicine department Dr Bipin Amin and assistant professor of anatomy Dr Dimple Ganatra.
