Several of the COVID rapid antigen test centres in the city have now been shut down as Ahmedabad has been consistently recording less than 10 cases every day. At the peak of the COVID pandemic, the AMC had set up domes in various parts of the city where citizens could get rapid antigen tests done for free. In the last few days, 10 of the 35 such testing domes have been closed down. The rest are also likely to be closed down slowly given the decrease in cases.
Testing domes near Vastrapur lake, Paldi, Tagore Hall are among those that have been shut down. However, officials in the know said that the tests will continue to be available at the urban health centres.
The testing domes were also closed down because as the cases decreased the number of people coming for testing had gone down to less than 10 a day.
Ahmedabad district has seen zero COVID cases in the last 20 days. Ahmedabad city has not seen any COVID deaths for over a month now. The city recorded one new COVID case in the last 24 hours with three patients being discharged during the same period. The district has so far recorded over 2 lakh COVID cases since the pandemic began while total fatality stands at over 3000.
