A doctor on Saturday was held for boozing at his workplace. The Kalupur police at night, after a tip-off about people boozing at the AMC health center on Relief Road, discovered that it was none other than the doctor consuming alcohol at the centre.
A video of the police also surfaced online showing the police in action, and the doctor at the urban health centre, a resident of Ghatlodia, drunk.
During the police’s visit to the centre, the doctor, in a hurry, started to pour the liquor in the washbasin. A half-filled liquor bottle was discovered from the doctor’s possession, reports
The Times of India.
The online viral video also showed the doctor sitting on a chair, as police told him to sit down calmly as his medical report would tell the truth about drinking. The police had got the information from the control room about people drinking near
Haja Patel pol on the Relief Road. According to a Kalupur police officer, the doctor was not alone at the healthcare centre. A staff of the unit was also present at the centre during that time, but he was not found drunk.
He added that the doctor was made to walk in a straight line to check if he had been drinking or not, but he failed to do so. He failed the field sobriety test. After the situation became apparent, the doctor was charged under the Prohibition Act. An FIR was filed for the case, which stated that the doctor could not speak his name when he was caught drunk.
The police officer told the TOI that the doctor was arrested, and his blood sample was sent for test to the forensic science laboratory for further results and clarification.
