The Gujarat Technological University (GTU) has announced 20 new technical and non-technical courses including some on Indic studies.
The latter is aimed at creating more awareness about India history, culture and Vedas among others. The courses will be available either as certificate courses or as diplomas. Some of these courses around Indic studies include those on the study of Vedas, Indian art, the study of Puranas, political systems in ancient India, Vedic culture and the study of Upanishads among others.
The 12 courses on Indic studies are being offered under Dharohar and is open to anyone interested in pursuing them irrespective of the stream they studied in.
GTU established Dharohar as a Centre for Indian knowledge system six months ago.
The courses on Vedic studies are being offered in collaboration with the Pune-based Bhishma School of Indic Studies. The courses will be offered from October to December 2021. The studies will take place thrice a week and students are being offered both morning and evening batches. Each three-month certificate course will cost Rs6000.
The university is also offering eight new courses in emerging technical fields like artificial intelligence, cyber security and biotechnology.
This includes a masters in engineering in IoT (internet of things) and a postgraduate diploma in machine learning and biotechnology. It is also offering a masters in technology in biotechnology.
Earlier Gujarat University had also announced four new courses in Indic studies concentrating on Upanishads, Vedas and ancient Indian Lifestyle. All the courses offered by GU in this discipline were in collaboration with Bharat Shodh Sansthan.
