Top IT firm IBM has announced that it will soon set up a modern state-of-the-art product engineering design & development centre in Ahmedabad.
The announcement came after a meeting of IBM India MD Sandeep Patel and IBM Software Lab vice-president Gaurav Sharma with the state chief minister Vijay Rupani on Tuesday.
The state in a release said that IBM wanting to set up a product development centre in the state was proof that the government’s investment in IT education, sectoral universities and icreate startups had led to the availability of skilled manpower for the sector.
The IBM centre is likely to further enhance the state’s potential as an IT and ITES service destination.
The centre will help create world-class manpower and provide skill development and employment opportunities for the youth of Gujarat. The company also plans to invest heavily in the education sector through its CSR activities.
The new centre will be akin to a new state-of-the-art software lab.
The new investment is likely to change the way the whole IT and ITES sectors functions in the state.
IBM has also praised the steps taken by Gujarat to make it an attractive IT destination.
The software lab to be set up by the IT major will provide world-class innovation and next-generation software portfolio and cloud service.
Bangalore, Pune, Hyderabad and Chennai already have such software labs in place.
The state has promised all help to the company in setting up the centre in Ahmedabad.
